Three-Color Plasma-Panel Display Device.

Abstract

The objectives of this program are to design, fabricate, and evaluate a plasma-panel display device having a three-color capability and to investigate and develop a technique for operating such a device with at least three levels of intensity. Good electrode-phosphor alignment has been achieved in 33 1/3 line-per-inch devices by using taut-line printed electrodes in combination with silk-screen printed connector pads. The mechanism of phosphor attachment was investigated using various thermal analyses of the photoresist and dielectric layers. New art-work was designed and ordered in preparation for making 60 lpi panels. Work on improving panel sealing and registration was continued. Three-intensity-level address capability under computer control was demonstrated for a monochromE DIGIVUE display panel. A manually controlled test system was designed and built to determine the multi-state operating characteristics of color panels. (Author)
