On the Effect of Heat of Phase Transformations on the Rate of Diffusion Processes in Drop Clouds,

Abstract

On the basis of simultaneous solution of equations of diffusion growth and thermal balance of a drop, a formula is given for calculating the rate of its condensation growth and evaporation taking into account the emission of latent heat of condensation, the curvature of the drop surface and the mass of matter dissolved in it. Formulae introduced earlier by other authors are particular cases of the obtained expression. The analysis of the given formula allows one to evaluate the optimum sizes of particles of certain salts which influence drop clouds. (Author)
