Behavioral Interactions in Multiple Schedules Controlling Low Rates of Response.
Abstract
Interactions among multiple schedule components controlling low rates of responding were studied. After rats were trained on a multiple differential reinforcement of low rate-differential reinforcement of other behavior (mult DRL DRO) schedule, responding was extinguished in the component previously associated with DRO. Increases in responding occurred in both components. Baseline mult DRL DRO performance was recovered and responding in the component previously associated with DRL was then extinguished. Typical extinction curves were observed during this component, but no behavioral changes were recorded in DRO. The relevance of these data to behavioral contrast and to the utility of such schedules in behavioral evaluations of chemical agents are discussed. (Author)
