The expedition investigated the west coast of Sakhalin from Khoe in the north to Ivanovka in the south, a stretch about 600km long. The coastal belt including the litoral and sublitoral is described in detail, pointing out the type of bottom amplitude of tides, exposure to waves and the effect of warm or cold currents. The algae are defined to the species, also their quantity and distribution is evaluated and described. A comprehensive list of algae in the appendix sums up the location of samples, their size, form, quantity and distribution. (Author)
