Some Results of the Investigation of Black Sea Interstitial Water (Nekotorye Rezultaty Issledovaniya Ilovykh Vod Chernogo Morya),

Abstract

Ionic constituents of interstitial water of the Black Sea sediments were studied to ascertain that these waters during diagenesis were transformed under normal sea water into water of the Cl-Na-Ca type. Interstitial waters of Cl-Na-Ca type were formed at the depth of several meters in the Black Sea sediments. The role of diffusion in the distribution of chlorine ion in interstitial waters is briefly discussed. (Author)
