Some Remarks on Elastic-Plastic Deformation at Finite Strain,

Abstract

A number of papers, e.g., by Lee and Liu, have appeared recently which are concerned with a non-isothermal theory of large elastic-plastic deformations. This theory is not entirely satisfactory in the sense that not all of its constitutive equations are invariant under superposed rigid body motions. Moreover, apart from this defect (and aside from certain ad hoc thermodynamical assumptions employed), the limitations of this theory and its relationship to the more general thermodynamical theory of Green and Naghdi has not been made clear. The present paper is intended to provide the needed clarifications pertaining to the above remarks. (Author)
