Final Report on Contract N00014-67-A-0321,
Abstract
A very brief summary is given of research which was concerned with the development of computer-based algorithms for the analysis of natural language. The work included the following: Conversion of List-Structure VIA programs from the Philco 2000 subset of FORTRAN II and the assembler, TAC, to PL/I; Development of a PREFIX program for inclusion in the VIA package; The design and coding of a Ring-Structure VIA, providing extensive search options; Research on the nature of Thesauri; Exploration of the design of data formats and computer programs for a language analysis support system which would have access to standard dictionaries and thesauri as well as to a sophisticated statistical analysis package for natural language; considerable attention was given to the parameters necessary for such a statistical package.
