Sedimentology. The Clay Minerals, Quartz, and Carbonate in Some Sediments,

Abstract

The illite-chlorite association characterizes the sediments of the Arctic Ocean. These clay minerals indicate a terrigenous origin. To this is added about 20% quartz and a little carbonate. The examination of the surface portion of 25 cores obtained from two fairly central regions of the Arctic Ocean permits us to present a few findings about sedimentation in that ocean. (Author)
