Studies of Electrochemical Processes.

Abstract

Salting effects are reported for 1-butanol, 1-pentanol, and cyclohexanol in KF, KCl, NaClO4 and Na2SO4. Adsorption-desorption potentials in these systems are interpreted in terms of specific adsorption of the electrolyte and competition with the surface-active alcohols. Bipyridyls have been prepared electrochemically from picolinic acid, nicotinic acid, and isonicotinic acid. Some of the isomeric pinacols have been obtained from phenyl-quinolyl ketones. Voltammetric analysis of ferrate(VI) has been studied. Conductance and viscosity of Bu4NI, KSCN, and NH4Br have been measured in N,N-dimethylformamide. Novel B, N, F compounds have been prepared as starting materials for electrochemical studies. (Author)
