OPCON Operating System User's Guide. Phase 3 MCS Mod 400 SSEC/MCSIM (1604-A) Mod 125 SSEC/MCSIM (160-A).

Abstract

The document describes the intent, general design, user facilities, and operating directions for an operating systesystem provided for use with an OPCON center using an array of CDC 1604-A and 160-A computers and a variety of peripheral devices as described in the Programming Reference Manual for Data Processing Set AN/FYK-1(V), CDC Publication 303. The intent is to provide an integrated and efficient operating system for a pool of many computers and peripheral devices. The system is provided with a special subsystem selection switch that, under computer control, switches each computer to a subset of the peripheral devices to operate as an autonomous subsystem computer. One computer, selected as required as the control computer, controls the switch. This computer may also make computer-to-computer data and interrupt transmissions to all the other computers.
