A Method of Characteristics Code for Energy Deposition Calculations (MCDIT 3).

Abstract

A one-dimensional method of characteristics code for the calculation of material response due to intensive in-depth energy deposition is presented. Emphasis is placed on the response within 0.1 microsecond. Shock waves are formed in the materials due to the discontinuous distribution of deposited energy. The peak pressure calculated is higher than those calculated by finite-difference codes. (Author)
