Efficiency of Multiplexing Systems and Communication Cables in the Transport Sector,

Abstract

After a brief discussion of the status of long-haul cable communication circuits in the rail transport sector, a technical and economic analysis is presented of five possible approaches to this problem calling for a variety of cable and multiplexing equipment types. This comparative analysis shows that the most advantageous solution lies in the use of K-60 and K-300 multiplexing equipment for balanced circuits and small coaxial pairs, respectively. The need for combined long-line cable is underscored. (Author)
