Symposium on the Upper Atmosphere: Results and Interpretation of OV1-15 Data.

Abstract

Papers presented at the Symposium on the Upper Atmosphere: Results and Interpretation of OV1-15 Data that was held on 26 August 1970 by the Space Physics Laboratory of The Aerospace Corporation are compiled in this document. This symposium summarized the results of the measurement program carried out by experiments of The Aerospace Corporation aboard the USAF/Aerospace/AFCRL satellite OV1-15 (1968-59A). The OV1-15 satellite, which was called the Solar Perturbation of Atmospheric Density Experiments Satellite (SPADES), contained a group of complementary experiments designed to study the response of the upper atmosphere to solar and magnetospheric disturbances. As the result of these experiments on OV1-15, the first comprehensive, long-term measurements of the upper atmosphere at altitudes below 250 km were made. (Author)
