On the Reduction of Rank of Linear Differential Systems.

Abstract

The rank of a linear differential system has been shown to be reducible to rank one by augmenting the given system to a higher dimensional one. In this paper, the augmented system is transformed in block-diagonal form, revealing the structure of solutions of this system relative to those of the given system. An application of this technique is given for regular singular systems which shows how this may be used to computational advantage. (Author)
