The Dynamics of Dyadic Foreign Conflict Behavior 1955 to 1963.
Abstract
Behavior of a hostile sort for a pair of nations, or dyadic foreign conflict behavior, has been reduced to its primary patterns for two years - 1955 and 1963. These analyses, which delineated patterns of behavior for a cross-sectional slice of nation pairs, treated conflict behavior as static. The completion of separate analyses for two cross-time slices allows dyadic foreign conflict behavior to be studied as a dynamic process. The research to be reported here quantitatively measures and maps for individual dyads the shifts in patterned foreign conflict behavior from 1955 to 1963. The research also develops a taxonomy of nation pairs based on the similarities of behavior shifts from 1955 to 1963. (Author)
