Statistics of Short Duration Failures when Reading Information from a Magnetic Tape,

Abstract

The article contains a description of a series of experiments to discover the nature and causes of malfunctions occurring when reading data from magnetic tape. The experiments were performed on the MAG-500 magnetic tape storage units connected with the BESM-3M computer. The malfunction statistics are given in tabular and graphic form.
