The Effect on Drawbar-Pull in Sand of the Lateral Spacing of Cleats

Abstract

The primary objective of this work is to evaluate in relative terms the effect on drawbar-pull in sand of the lateral spacing of cleats with grousers. As a means of achieving this objective, a set of four varied cleat configurations is used as the basis for both a theoretical and an experimental evaluation of the effect. A secondary objective of this work was to prepare for and place into operation a newly acquired soil-bin dynamometer. Consequently, considerable information pertaining to the dynamometer is included.
