Inelastic Collisions of Excited Atoms.

Abstract

Theoretical work has dealt with charge-transfer reactions that result in excited neutral atoms. Experimental determinations have been made of cross sections for the deexcitation of singlet and triplet He metastable atoms in N2 over a kinetic-energy range of 150-2000 eV. Considerable modifications and refinements of the original apparatus have been made. Calculations are presented on the He(+) + alkali metal charge transfer Landau-Zener inelastic total cross section.
