Leptospiral Ultrasonic Polyvalent Depot-Vaccine (Leptsspkrsznaya Ultrazeiuksvaya Pslieyalentnaya Depo-Vakchina),

Abstract

A new polyvalent leptospiral depot-vaccine prepared by the method of ultrasonic destruction of a concentrated suspension of leptospira with subsequent standardization and deposition with aluminum hydroxide was evaluated. The vaccine contains antigens isolated from 5 serotypes of leptospirae (grippotyphosa, hebdomadis, canicola, pomona and tarassovi) and protects from infection with 8 types of leptospira infection (grippotyphosa, hebdomadis, saxkoebing, canicola, icterohaemorrhagiae A and AB, pomona and tarassovi). After a single immunization in a dose of 1.5 ml rabbits remained immune for 1 year. Single vaccination with a crude vaccine protected rabbits from infection with a virulent culture in a dose of 4-15 D1m. (Author)
