Research Directed towards Theoretical Methods for Dealing with Quantum-Optical Devices.

Abstract

The report presents results of research directed toward the development of theoretical methods for dealing with quantum optical devices. The main areas of progress were in: (1) determining the fluctuation and response characteristics of several pertinent physical systems driven by resonant fields and (2) developing analytic descriptions of the processes involved in the generation and propagation of ultra-short pulses.
