Research on Advanced Axial Compressor Concepts.

Abstract

The report covers work carried out on advanced axial compressor concepts. Cascade calculations and testing on blunt trailing edge (BTE) blades and conventional blades are described covering optimization of external and internal diffusion in BTE blade passages, low Reynolds number performance and detailed secondary flow investigations. The effort on the BTE diffusion optimization was concentrated on the experimental study of the flow from the trailing edge to infinity. Relative trailing edge thickness and trailing edge form have an influence on the Strouhal number. The latter is most prevalent. (Author)
