Surgical and Blood Research at Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen,

Abstract

The Surgery Department of the Rigshospitalet is involved in refinement of techniques for measurements of blood flow and ECF space volume. A new system for on-line calibration of photoelectric dye-sensing devices obviates the loss of blood required for older calibration methods. The rate of disappearance of Xe133 from an organ is under investigation as a possible means of estimating changes in perfusion. In the Clinical Chemistry Department, the role of disturbed acid-base balance producing changes in oxygen transport by the red blood cell is under investigation. (Author)
