Fatigue Evaluation of the X7050 Aluminum Alloy.

Abstract

A fatigue evaluation was conducted to determine the relative tension-tension fatigue properties of the recently developed X7050 (MA15) aluminum alloy as compared to those of the established commercial 7075 and 7079 aluminum alloys. It was ascertained that the X7050 aluminum alloy had a fatigue strength at the 10 cycle life that was approximately 18% and 54% greater than the fatigue strength of the 7075 and 7079 aluminum alloys, respectively.
