Plan for Disposable Mess Gear Test to be Conducted at Charleston, S. C., May 1969 - Jun 1969.

Abstract

The purpose of the proposed test was as follows: To determine personnel preferences with respect to plastic disposable mess gear as compared to conventional mess gear; To determine personnel preferences with respect to using disposable plastic tray liners as compared to disposable plastic trays; To determine the material performance of plastic mess gear under actual use; To determine the utility of the plastic mess gear system with respect to function and ease of handling; To verify the operating characteristics of the incinerator/conveyor system; To acquire service experience in the use of the incinerator/conveyor system so as to determine within the limits of time available whether or not there are any unforeseen operating or maintenance problems; To determine what improvements or changes, if any, should be recommended in the proposed system.
