Production Applications of Large-Scale Linear Programming Models for Optimized Resource Allocation Within the U.S. Department of Defense,

Abstract

The paper reviews four major large-scale linear programming models currently in use within the US Department of Defense. These models are examples of this technique as it is employed at the highest levels of decisionmaking within the DOD. A brief description and review of application experience are included for each model. The paper discusses developmental problems encountered between the model developers and the users. It concludes with a discussion of extension of applications described in this paper. (Author)
