The Effect of Maintenance and Reliability on the Operational Effectiveness of an Interceptor Squadron,

Abstract

The report analyzes the data collected during a squadron operational test in the area of maintenance and reliability, and their effect on flying operations. Although this data is old, the study having been made more than fifteen years ago, the limited availability of this type of data makes it worthwhile to have it available in an unclassified manner even though the aircraft is obsolete and no longer in the Air ORCE INVENTORY5 The study results are primarily useful in indicating order-of-magnitude effects and the importance of certain parameters on maintenance and reliability. Also included is a discussion of the test environment, the data collection procedures, and the accuracy obtained. (Author)
