On the Aerodynamic Forces of Oscillating Two-Dimensional Lifting Surfaces.

Abstract

The lift on a two-dimensional airfoil that oscillates in translation and pitch and is subject to a sinusoidal gust is calculated. The high frequency asymptotic behavior of the lift due to motion and gust is derived in the case of incompressible and compressible flow. The magnitude of the lift is asymptotically smaller in all cases when compressibility is considered. (Author)
