Beach and Nearshore Dynamics in Eastern Lake Michigan.

Abstract

Detailed systematic surveying of the beach and nearshore environments of two areas in southeastern Lake Michigan permits analysis of changes in morphology with respect to monitored environmental variables. Eighteen variables were measured at 2-hour intervals during a 30-day time series study. Morphologic responses and sedimentary processes can be related to these variables. Construction of a model of sedimentation in the nearshore environment is made possible by daily maps and time-distance diagrams. This provides a four-dimensional dynamic model which is a response model to the measured environmental variables. (Author)
