Automatic Contour Digitizer (ACD).

Abstract

The report covers the engineer design tests conducted to determine the suitability of the Automatic Contour Digitizer (ACD) system for digitizing map controur line data. The ACD was designed to automate the conversion of graphic contour elevation information to digital form and to store the data on half-inch-wide magnetic computer tape at 556 bits per inch in either contour (string) or profile format. Inputs to the system are existing color separations on 0.007- inch-thick Cronapaque or film base. Up to 24-by 30-inch sheet sizes can be processed. (Author)
