Abstract
The book summarizes the results of many years of clinical and experimental studies of the mechanism of action of a number of psychopharmacological agents widely used in therapeutic practice--aminazine, sodium amytal, tofranil, amizil, and insulin--on the human brain. It also presents the results of clinical and experimental study of the mechanism of action of bemegride--a preparation which is for the first time being proposed for combatting depressive states. The influence of each of the preparations conditioned-reflex activity, the unconditioned reflexes and autonomics, on the motor sphere and the functions of the auditory mechanism, and on the electrical activity of the brain was investigated.
