Circuit Properties of Avalanche Diodes.

Abstract

The report gives an account of a series of experimental and theoretical investigations into the operating characteristics of avalanche diodes in various circuit configurations. The general aim of these investigations is to develop techniques by which a given device may be characterized and its performance under known circumstances reliably ascertained. The topics discussed include a computer model of the device transients, a method of measuring the small signal admittance of an active diode, an attempt at the construction of a simple microstrip oscillator circuit, and some results on the use of the diode as a sub-transit frequency oscillator and amplifier.
