Structure of Fundamental Interactions.

Abstract

The report summarizes the work in elementary particle physics performed under the Contract. Research on weak and electromagnetic interactions and structures of hadrons, scattering of hadrons, Regge theory and dispersion relations, K-N scattering, and high energy pion photoproduction is reported. Understanding of the relationship between weak and strong interactions has advanced to the point where some understanding has been gained of the possible role of weak interactions in symmetry breaking. Investigation of light-cone singularities and deep inelastic scattering has also yielded interesting results. Results of research on the theory of Regge poles and the methodology of finite energy sums have been successfully applied to the study of K-N scattering and of pion photoproduction. (Author)
