Epitaxial Deposition of Silver on Molybdenite.

Abstract

Silver was found to deposit epitaxially on molybdenite at substrate temperatures from -165C to 625C. The degree of epitaxy decreased with decreasing substate temperature with rotations of up to 4 degrees. An hcp silver phase was observed at low substrate temperatures. The results are discussed in terms of the theory of heterogeneous nucleation. (Author)
