Low-Temperature Fluorine Chemistry.

Abstract

The program dealt with certain aspects of low-temperature fluorine chemistry of chlorine, nitrogen and oxygen. A new interhalogen radical, ClF2, was prepared and characterized through its infrared spectrum. At least one more new chlorine-fluorine species has been prepared by photolysis of Cl2/F2/Ar mixtures, but it was not identified. Low-temperature mass spectrometry of fluorine-containing compounds was studied using the cryogenic inlet system built for the Hitachi-Perkin-Elmer mass spectrometer. (Author)
