Light Scattering and Infrared Spectroscopy.
Abstract
A summary of the work for the past year is given. Work on the infrared spectrum of C2H2 and the HF dimer is noted. In spontaneous scattering the sound speed in nitrogen at modest pressures has been measured. Anamolous depolarization ratios (Krishnan effect) in plastics has been observed. The use of a Fabry-Perot interferometer as a resonant reflector has been investigated as an enhancer of 90 deg. scattering. In stimulated scattering the gain and phonon lifetime in the plastics PMMA and PEMA have been measured. A study of stimulated thermal Rayleigh scattering at 0 deg. is in progress. (Author)
