Numerical Method of Solving the Reynolds Equation for a Pressurized Gas bearing,

Abstract

The study is reported of a radial gas bearing of finite length with forced pressurization. A finite-difference method of solving the Reynolds equation for the pressures in the lubricant layer is outlined. The basic equations are obtained under the usual assumptions made in isothermal lubrication theory. The feed ports are schematized by continuous pressurization line. The results of computer calculations of the bearing characteristics are presented and analyzed.
