Television Tube Resolving Power,

Abstract

Analysis of the problem leads to a quite obvious conclusion. Attempts to create transmitting tubes with a flat target and high (ultrahigh) resolving power are not promising. Only with changeover to scanning onto a large spherical target of a wide-angle tube in which the electron beam deflection angle can be increased in proportion to the number of lines and the optimal distance between lines do new opportunities open up for the construction of high-line-frequency tubes, which in essence will determine further progress in television engineering.
