Specimen Design for Sustained Load Testing of Parallel-Laid Glass Fibre Reinforced Plastics.

Abstract

The specimen adopted and recommended is prepared by making three laminates, two of them to form the reinforcing end pieces and the third for the test piece. The three laminates are then bonded together in a mold using single layers of prepreg as bonding agent. The bonding surfaces are specially prepared by molding on a sheet of woven glass fabric and stripping this off just before bonding, to leave a roughened surface. The test specimens are 1/2 inch wide strips cut from the laminates. (Author, modified-PL)
