Strength Conditions Under the Varying Stresses of an Unsteady Condition with Respect to the Breakdown Probability Parameter,

Abstract

An attempt to determine the strength characteristics of materials with respect to the breakdown probability parameter by statistical analysis of the fatigue stability characteristics under unsteady loads subject to various distribution laws is given. It is shown that real load spectra cannot be adequately described by assuming single-parameter load distributions. A second load distribution parameter is introduced in the procedure, and the results are compared with a reference load spectrum. Recommendations are made concerning the statistical strength analysis of materials with respect to the breakdown probability parameter.
