Man-Machine Systems for Detection, Recognition, Transmission and Perception of Information. Volume I.

Abstract

The report describes the results of a comprehensive research effort consisting of experimental and theoretical studies to develop man-machine techniques for processing data from sonar display systems. The following basic areas were investigated; Modeling of the human operator in sequential visual detection tasks; Compact encoding of information; Automatic methods of processing sonar data; and Visual display processing.
