Research and Development in Hydroacoustic Impulse Sound Sources.

Abstract

The status of the investigation of a novel, water-hammer method for the controlled generation of acoustic transients is reported. The report covers an investigation into the known theory of producing underwater impulses and an examination of some existing acoustic pulse generators. Tests of a small engineering model hydroacoustic impulse source are described. Project plans include experimental evaluation of the existing and second-generation source models for comparison with the theory that his been developed. (Author)
