BRLESC Finite Element Program for Axisymmetric, Plane Strain, and Plane Stress, Orthotropic Solids with Temperature-Dependent Material Properties,
Abstract
The report describes the latest finite element computer program coded in FORTRAN 4 to the BRLESC. A program was developed from SAAS 2 which has been written by the Aerospace Corporation for the stress analysis of axisymmetric aerospace structures. Eliminated were three of the five temporary tapes used in SAAS 2 because of technical difficulties in executing on the BRLESC in a program which utilizes more than two temporary tapes. To help interpretation of printed output plotting routines were incorporated which produce graphical output. This plotted output consists of a finite element grid for the solid, a deformed finite element grid in which the actual displacements are exaggerated, and contours of any component of stress or strain and of temperature. By incorporating the latest unpublished SAAS 2 revisions in the program additional capability to analyze solids in conditions of plane stress and plane strain is provided. To standardize the computation of nodal points for straight lines on the boundary of a solid, minor changes in the automatic mesh generation subroutine of SAAS 2 is made. (Author)
