Survival on Film. Instructor's Guide to Survival Training Films,

Abstract

This analysis of survival films is the result of numerous inquiries received from operational units and survival training instructors concerning films available for use in survival indoctrination programs. There are no indications that films in the Air Force inventory have ever been analyzed to determine their applicability to survival programs and specific courses within those programs, hence the decision was made to undertake such an analysis and publish the results along with recommendations on the use of films in support of survival training programs. In the course of this study, all Air Force and many Army and Navy films pertaining to survival were reviewed. Those deemed of particular value to survival training instructors were reviewed a second time, evaluated, and analyzed for area and subject matter coverage. Then followed the classification of the films by environmental and subject matter areas. The films were then ranked on the basis of coverage, accuracy, and method of presentation. (Author)
