Data Management Functions for Higher Level Language Programming.

Abstract

The Extended Data Management Facility (EDMF) is an advanced data management system that runs on the Moore School-RCA's Spectra 70/46 computer system. The data management functions of EDMF are available to the users of the higher-level programming languages via a set of subroutines written in Assembly language and incorporated into the programming library of the higher-level programming language compilers. The set includes functions to open a file of the EDMF, to retrieve records from the opened file which satisfy a given logical and arithmetic expression of keywords, to get values of an attribute from the retrieved record, to delete a record from a given file, to insert (or delete) an attribute-value pair into (or from) a given record, to create and store new records in a file and to close a file of the EDMF. These functions can be used by FORTRAN and COBOL programmers. (Author)
