Studies in Chemical Ionization Mass Spectroscopy.

Abstract

Chemical ionization studies of ketones were carried out using both methane and hydrogen reagent gases. Also carried out were survey experiments on amines and some preliminary kinetics studies concerning ion source characteristics and the question of chemical equilibrium in high pressure ion sources. These experiments have shown that chemical ionization mass spectroscopy is capable of yielding results of both a quantitative and qualitative nature; that one can obtain kinetic information on ion molecule reactions from these experiments and that the method is much more sensitive than we had suspected previously.
