Results of Engineering Study on SPIW Muzzle Device

Abstract

The report includes a review of the development effort which culminated in the current design of the muzzle device. A description of the three primary areas for achieving the goals of the study - material study, fabrication techniques and weight reduction is presented. Appendices A, B and C contain an analytical study of the gas expansion phenomenon and stress analyses of the barrel extension and expansion chamber, respectively.
