Toward Better Computer Programming.

Abstract

High-level language computer programs should be well-structured so that they may be quicker to prove initially and quicker to modify and extend subsequently. Many suggestions are given to improve the structure of programs, and the documentation and transferability of programs between computers is discussed. In this respect the Algol-like languages are shown to have a significant advantage over Fortran. A method is outlined for effectively controlling the development of high-level language software by someone outside one's direct control. (Author)
