Abstract

The book, which is based on open Soviet and foreign materials, presents a systematic outline of problems in ensuring reliability of technical equipment in the Armed Forces. The emphasis is on problems which are important for equipment operators. The analysis of the particular features of contemporary technical equipment operated in the Armed Forces permits the reader to familiarize himself with the essence of the examined problem and to unite the series of properties subject to calculation during operation, and also to become familiar with the concept of military reliability. On the basis of this concept quantitative criteria are introduced and their basis given, while methods of obtaining the required reliability and of planning operation according to the criterion of ensuring the given reliability are analyzed. The book is intended for officers and also for enlisted men and sergeants engaged in the operation of technical equipment in the Armed Forces. (Author)
