Creep of Structural Graphite in the 2300-3100K Range,

Abstract

The approximation used in the investigation is described by Dergunov, et. al. (1969). The samples tested were 8 mm in diameter and 20 mm long with a d. 1.9 g/ml and strength 140 kg/cm (superscript 2) at 300 degrees K. Two types of tests were made with the samples. The samples were tested under const. temp. at 2300 degrees K and const. wt. until creep occurred, as well as at const. wt and variable temp. From the experimental results the energy of activation for creep was 47, 49, and 176 kcal/mol with the temp. ranges of 2300-2500 degrees; 2500-2900 degrees; and 2900-3000 degrees K., respectively.
