The Synthesis of Ashless Multifunctional Additives Based on the Highest Alcohols of the Fatty Series,

Abstract

By the interaction of the primary octylic, nonylic and decylic alcohols, and also of the mixture of primary fatty alcohols of given compositions with pentasulfide phosphorus acid ethers of dialkyl-dithiophosphoric acids were obtained. The obtained ethers were subjected to condensation with aqueous solutions of formaldehyde and ammonia, as a result of which ashless additives, containing in their composition nitrogen, sulfur and phosphorus, were synthesized. During research on the effect of the obtained additives on the operational properties of lubricating oils, it was established that they possess good anticorrosive and antioxidant properties. They are also effective depressors. (Author)
